Emblazoned on the former site of Vanderbilt’s Stadium Club on West End Avenue, Nissha Medical Technologies’ brilliant blue logo was a vivid presence overlooking a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the company’s Engineering & Innovation Center of Excellence. Together with university leaders and government officials, Nissha officially opened the center’s doors on April 17, marking the beginning of an extended collaboration that will create opportunities to develop medical devices and technology—a key research area for the university.
“Standing in a facility transformed by investment and a clear-eyed vision for the future, we are witnessing a powerful example of what we call radical collaboration: working across different disciplines and perspectives, often in unexpected ways, to create solutions that could not occur in isolation,” Chancellor DanielDiermeiersaid. “By welcoming Nissha Medical Technologies directly onto Vanderbilt’s main campus—our first industry partner to be housed in this way—we are strengthening that connection in significant ways. We are creating the Nashville Innovation Center of Excellence, which is not just a building, but a thriving ecosystem that allows ideas to flourish and move from a whiteboard to a clinical trial with lightning speed.”
To accelerate Nashville’s innovation trajectory, Vanderbilt is reimagining40 acreson the western edge of campus as a mixed-use neighborhood dedicated to collaborative innovation, a space where research, collaboration and entrepreneurship intersect. This future-facing development will translate university research into growing businesses, foster partnerships across sectors and broaden opportunities for students, alumniand faculty. Nissha is the first company to work with Vanderbilt to realize the vision for an innovation ecosystem in Nashville.
“At the heart of our work is our commitment to being leaders interested in technology, developing and engineering solutions that clinicians can rely on and patients can trust. Global collaboration is essential to this mission. This center is one way we are putting that belief into action,”Chairmanof the Board and Group CEO of Nissha Co.
