The western end of Garland Avenue will close from Monday, June 22, through Monday, Nov. 9, as crews install new thermal, storm, sanitary, electrical and telecommunications utilities.听
The closure is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements and will affect vehicle traffic, pedestrian听routes听and nearby parking areas.听
As part of the changes, Lot 18,听adjacent to听Olin Avenue, will reopen June 22听to听provide听alternative parking access. At the same time, Lot 16,听which is听south of the Studio Arts building, will close听for听utility work.听
Signs and听traffic control staff听will be听deployed听in the听area听to guide motorists and pedestrians. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be marked and听fenced off听from work zones to听maintain听safety and accessibility.听
Transit operations will also be adjusted. Bus drivers will be routed to Highland Avenue to access Stevenson Center Lane and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center roundabout near Eskind.听
Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to听plan ahead, follow听the听signs听and allow extra time when traveling through the area.听
