Faculty who would like to learn more about serving in residential or programmatic roles within the university鈥檚鈥�鈥痑re invited to an open house on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons dean鈥檚 residence, located at 1235 18th Ave. S.听
At this information session, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Tiffiny Tung and Melissa Gresalfi, dean of residential colleges and residential education and dean of The Ingram Commons, will provide a brief overview of the significance of faculty engagement within the residential colleges system, roles available to faculty and the application process. The residential colleges are a cornerstone of the Vanderbilt undergraduate student experience, promoting the development of community, self-discovery, intellect, personal well-being and cultural awareness. As of today, the residential colleges system includes The Ingram Commons, E. Bronson Ingram College, Moore College, Nicholas S. Zeppos College, Rothschild College and Warren College.听
Residential faculty roles include faculty heads of house and/or college, with a rolling application process for openings as they arise. Faculty heads live in apartments located inside houses or colleges with their families.听听
Faculty interested in a faculty head position should complete the application鈥�. As part of the application, you are asked to upload:听
- a letter of your interest, including any relevant qualifications, experience or expertise; and听
- a current CV.听
A list of interested faculty is maintained on an ongoing basis. Faculty are contacted and interviewed through an expedited process as new opportunities emerge; thus, there is no set deadline for applications. Letters of interest remain active and on file for five years.听
If you are interested in learning more about the residential colleges system but not yet ready to move onto campus, please consider a nonresidential opportunity, which includes teaching a or serving as a faculty VUceptor. Faculty VUceptors facilitate and discuss the Campus Reading with students throughout the fall semester. The application process for faculty VUceptors opens in January 2024.听
